Audience interviews
As part of our audience research, we conducted a spoken interview in which participants would answer a set of questions regarding the horror genre and related questions. We have conducted 4 interviews which can be seen below with the annotations of their answers and what they mean to us as film makers.
This video features Mr Lawrence, a learning support teacher that is being interviewed using our spoken questionnaire. By filming him in a quiet area with no surrounding distractions, it is clear that the interview is not biased and is a clear answered questionnaire. We found that his favourite horror was Scream and his favourite horror character was the man wearing the Scream mask.
This interview is with a year 11 who is interested in horror. As before in our first interview, we found that Scream was his favourite horror, but said we would not go to the cinema to watch a horror.
In our third interview we found a girl who had a different favourite horror, which was Annabelle, a paranormal horror. This could suggest that different genders prefer different types of horror.
This student prefers to go to the cinema and watch a horror film because he suggests its more darker and more scary. So the students suggests that the atmosphere is more better in the cinema which can make the audience feel different than watching a film at home rather than in the cinema.
