Carol J. Clover is an American professor of film studies. She once wrote a book called 'Men, Women and Chain saws.' This book has a perspective on the influence of horror. She focuses mainly on slasher. Her theories include ideas that suggest the scariest place to film a horror is in an unnerving environment. In slashers the killers almost always have childhood issues or are sexually disturbed. She also mentioned that phone lines, alarms, car alarms etc never work when in a dangerous situation. She was the one that came up with the Final Girl theory.

Wheeler Winston Dixon is an American filmmaker and scholar. He is an expert on film history. His scholarship focuses mainly on horror. He wrote a book named 'The History of Horror' and is the top reviewer of films. His theory includes ideas such as that victims are the 'site of activity'. This means that they are not much more than a character, we do not seem to know anything about them, just that they are the first person to be killed in a horror.
