Box Office Mojo is a website that tracks box office revenue in a systematic, algorithmic way, founded in 1999. In 2008, Box Office Mojo was bought by the Internet Movie Database, owned by Amazon. The website is widely used within the film industry as a source of data.
This screenshot shows the horror films that have made the most money. The conjuring is a paranormal film that has been popular since its release, following with Annabelle and The Conjuring 2. As this has already been done and made a lot of money, we decided not to do a paranormal to avoid disappointment of not reaching these standards. We have also decided not to do a slasher because most horrors now revolve around a masked killer with a knife or some sort of sharp weapon.
Because there arent many psychological horrors on this list, we have decided to do a psychological to make sure that it remains a good sub genre of horror. This allows us to have a good chance at making one of the top films as people may be more interested in a different sub genre of horror other than the normal slasher or paranormal film.
