using CONVENTIONS
We took most of our inspiration from 4 iconic horror movies when thinking about the kind of shots we wanted to create our own OTS. When creating our OTS it was vital that we had a basic plan to follow by in order to start creating our horror sequence. We took our ideas from different scenarios of horror, these being; Saw, Split, Saw 4 and A Nightmare on Elm Street.. The reason why we included all of these different scenarios is because they worked extremely well in drawing us into the movie and scaring us when watching the trailers, therefore we believed that this would reflect onto our audience.
Our sequence also conforms to conventions such as the absence of parents and the use of a typical slasher weapon; a knife.
challenging conventions
Although our opening title sequence does conform to known conventions, we also decided to film part of it in a brightly lit garage which is different to most horror films that are filmed in dark surroundings.
Overall, our sequence conforms to most conventions more than it challenges it, mainly because of the fast paced shots and the use of still images.

The use of bright colours in the garage such as white, which represents purity, challenges the conventions of using dark coloured clothing and proves that our sequence does not conform to all of the conventions.
