bAD PRELIM |
The good prelim demonstrates some of the main aspects such as match on action, keeping to the 180 degree rule and continuity. Match on action means that when a shot ends, the beginning of the next shot must match the first shot's action. This is shown when Richard walks towards the door and the shot finishes as he touches the door. We then start the next shot with Richard touching the door. However, our good prelim does not fully apply the skills correctly. In one part we broke the 360 rule and therefore, learnt the lesson and will be sure to avoid this mistake in our future filming. In the bad prelim we broke the 360 degree rule and did not use match on action or continuity. There are many moments where Rich and I appear differently and walk into different situations. For example, on my way into the hall I closed the door, but from a different shot, the door is open. This is an example of bad continuity.
In our future filming we will be sure to use the rules correctly to make our work look presentable and accurate. |
180 degree rule
The 180 degree rule means that the whole production is filmed on the same side making the situation look more realistic. Below we have attached a youtube video demonstrating the 180 degree rule.
continuity
Continuity means that all the shots feature the same outfits, hairstyles, settings. For example in our good prelim Richard shuts the door as he has entered the room and when he goes to leave the room, the door is also shut. We have attached a youtube video that shows an example of bad continuity, which can also been seen in our bad prelim.
