sound
Sound is one of the most important factors of a horror film that really creates the atmosphere and feeling of a horror. It is important for a horror to have a well known sound track or effect that causes tension and fear within the audience and as a whole creating the film.

use of dronesThe use of drone sounds emphases the eerie and subtle scariness of the noise which in all is a good start for the backing of a horror during a tense moment or some part of the film. It is easy to create an atmosphere with layered drones with other sound effects in order to create a good sound timeline for the opening title sequence.

insidious musicInsidious have managed to claim this song as their famous sound track and people are able to recognise the song from the film. They have tried to feature it as part parallel and part contrapuntal, but as the song sounds creepy and odd it would be mostly parallel. However, it still confuses the brain as the tunes of the song are quite high, which we would naturally associate with something small

High and low pitchHigh and low pitch sounds are very commonly found within horror films. They are used to create tension and make the audience feel uncomfortable. The reason this happens is because we are used to hearing other peoples voices, and our voices are in in the middle of the scale of high and low, so when the audience hear these high and low pitch sounds it takes the audience out of their comfort zone so we instantly think something is going to happen and gets them on edge.
